I'm still not set but some of the elements are starting to take "colour" shape !

Where are your working from ?
I'm downstairs readying the studio for hook-in tomorrow. It's high time we all got into a schedule here.
As I tidy up I'm finding treasures. notes I made while teaching this summer, little pieces of wool that are exquisite, things I made for my friend but forgot to deliver...
Here is something from Oprah's columnist Martha Beck, she has a column about it the September issue.
I shared during the last away class I taught. It is a piece of gold indeed.
When you act or work from a base of fear it:
Always feels bad
Motivates grasping
Seizes control
Insists on certainty
Needs everything
When you work or act from a base of love it:
Always feels good
Motivates liberation
Relaxs control
Accepts uncertainty
Needs nothing
Let your motto be I want to feel good !
Jump for joy ! ( Danielle smith photo)

Vogueing #8
This particular design is a favorite of mine, the running stitch. It is on an Ann Taylor skirt. I love that look !
I didn't hook or draw today because I went to Owen Sound to get supplies of novels, a whooping 9 and groceries that can be easily cooked on one leg, Flamingo style. Tomorrow is my day to get some fun things done.

Are you doing anything with these designs ?

Vogueing #7
What do you mean expressive colour ?
This is a question I get frequently. We know that colours are frequently used to describe feelings. Green with envy, I saw red, what a yellow belly ! This type of description is part of our everyday speech.
We are very expressive with colour there.
We also dress and decorate with colour expressively. To create a calm presence in a room we use cool colours, to make a statement we were a red dress. To be authoritative we wear black.
When we hook our rugs we don't really think about being expressive as much. A sky ? well, it's some sort of blue isn't it ?
When I talk abuot being expressive I want our imaginations to take flight. I want us to think about what else could our sky contain.
Could some lavender or mint or yellow be placed in our sky with handsome effect ? Could we imagine a subtle pink showing up from time to time ?
Can we become users of rich colour instead of poor colour ?
By that I don't mean using one colour for a sky is bad, what I mean is we have a wealth of colour at our fingertips in our wool baskets, lets start applying it like we own the world.
When we can do this we create impact for the viewer, the mystery to look for more, they feel satisfied when they see complexity.
A myriad of colours to create an essence of one.
Take a close look at this painting, not the sky though it is magnificent, look at the snow to see rich colour

Vogueing Pattern update
Another great letter - What to do with Navy !
Someone just gifted my friend with a boat load of navy wool, she asked for help.
Here's what I said:
NAVY WOOL , what a treasure.
A brief list of the possibilities: (they will always require quite a lot of dye because navy is dark )
for 1/2 yd using 4 colours use about 1/4 tsp of dye each
make a spot dye over it using, purple, red violet, turquoise
spot it with browns ( MC ones please because they got sauce )
spot it up with black and turquoise
Micarelli method:
divide it up into 1/4 yds and dye each 1/4 yd a different colour, by making nests in a pan, fill the pan with nests, just have them touching not packed in, pouring each colour over 1 nest each. Pop into oven ...OH baby what a treasure, I think I showed you that in class over purple wool ?
Use it to marbelise ala Karen Kahle.
Bleed dye out of it to lighten then overdye by wandering.
Make a marvy black by adding orange to it then navy + black, then Red violet+ black in the wandering method.
That should keep you busy for awhile.
This would make a great program for a rug group, look what you can do with Navy !
Look what Tom Thomson did in The Tent with his navy ! Oh that water ...

Inspired to Look By Jean
Today Jean suggested I look at the works of JW Waterhouse for the interesting effects of light , especially The Magic Circle.

I also saw these while I looked at that:

Personally that's how I wait for my man each day... Fair Rosamund indeed! Look at her tapestry behind her. Instead I have my frame !

Sleep and his half brother death, look how light indicates each brothers name.

Though Thisbe is a comely model it is the distance light through the window that beckons me

Vogueing Day 3
Alligator skin- Donna Karen belt
Because of the time spent a the hospital today i haven't got yesterday pattern on yet but I 'm going down to do it now. I hope to get caught up tomorrow.
Hooking will start soon because I have to park it for 4 WEEKS ! I'll show you the colours this week end and what I thought about to chose them.
Now I did it !
After two weeks of a baseball ankle I went to see a doctor today. X-ray. Itshay. I have a broken leg ! I chipped part of the bone off my fibula. So I'm not so bright. But I am good and laid up now with my air cast.
We had 3 emergences with the livestock today, the first one , a male we set free out on the butterfly bush.
Here he is from various aspects.

A course of study
When ever I get a bit of non-committed time I love to embark on a course of study.
Last time I had a bit of free time was in January when I meant to study stitching on cloth and explore what could be done with that and rug hooking, that got shunted to the back burner when The Welcome Mat moved.
I'm thinking of that as more of a winter project.
I'm so inspired by the presence of that special 44° 45' N light that shines here in September I had to take a good look at that.
Late in August I ordered several books on this topic especially in the presence of light in landscapes.
For fun I also ordered a book by my one of my favorite artists Danny Gregory
His work just plainly makes me happy !
Just this picture of these books makes my heart jump with enthusiasm for the topics.
The Emergence Occurs
