Did More Ripping Out Than Hooking

Today while channeling Private Benjamin on a 14 mile hike I decided the best thing I could do for my hooking project is do it right.
So I ripped out to start fresh on my water glinting sunlight extravaganza...
I often do this, like when I made my self portrait I just thought I should put the hair in willy nilly. Well that kinda thinking never pays off for me because when it doesn't look like it should I get pissed off. Better to do what's there in the first place, save some time.

Here is a site I found that is quick fun for photos. I was reduced to surfing tonight for entertainment because my ankles are broken see above and I hook with my feet of course!

My originals - both photo and subjects

Here I turn them into an old photo with aviary.....

Cool.....

Wanda Hooks

As you can see by the date on this photo, it was some years go. I did hook today for the first time in over a month and unable to photograph myself I'm settling for this photo.
I don't even know what I was hooking! I mean way back then, I'm not that far gone that I can't remember this afternoon. I love hooking in my studio from about 4 until 7 each day, the light is outstanding and rich. To bad people like to eat around then eh?
Let them eat wool!

This is me

There shall be no finishing today.
I'm exhausted, see self portrait below.
Here's what my boy friend had to say to me about this.
"Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason mastery demands all of a person." Albert Einstein

The little pep talk was bad enough but then with the face pulling annnd then he called me a he?..... OY what a heartless fatherless child.
Really what is demanded is my mastery over the snooze button.

FINISHING And Abandoning

I'm here to tell you finishing and keeping your nose to the grindstone is starting to tick me off.
I console myself:

Maybe if I wore these pants while I finish I might be more enthusiastic!

I'm going to go down to the studio now and root around for today's finishing task.... imagine me like french pig looking for truffles in the oak forest, but with these pants on. I got IT going on!

And now a brief word from Man:
Don't lay all your big ol' turkey eggs in one nest and then get too scared by the screaming to come back to it.
I feel this is pretty sage advice. See what you can do to follow it.

Otro día Quince Una Hecho

The pile of undones grows smaller. I frequently don't like to bind landscapes so this one is sewn back with minimum of fuss. I'll be adding a thin wool tape to the folded back edges.

Día Once

This little rug took less than two hours to hook.... and several hundred to whip. What's wrong with this picture?
The best thing I've said in awhile ? I'm all done!

Diez Día-Finalizar o Post

You are going to have to put on your rose coloured glasses and look elsewhere for entertainment.
I'm a tired girl tonight, and I have a choice, finish something or post. You lose.

Thursday Hook-in

First off these ladies showed up! That was some cause for concern... something about territory...?? Anyway we got that resolved.

Here is Joanne working on her brand new rug.... she hooks with yarn, see what she spun below? Al last week!

And here is her very first piece she hooked with her own handspun, it gives this little scene a lovely quality. Well done!

Marie and Lorraine are working away, starting and almost finishing go Marie!!!

Here Marion, a new hooker works on her first piece. She is doing a great job! She is a woman of many disciplines and talents!!!

Before you know it look who appeared!
Snappy dresser eh?

You know, I couldn't make this stuff up if you wanted me to!

De los Seis Días

I did whip for a bit but only got a scant two more inches done, too many things to do!
I zig and zagged and serged my edge on this Boat Lake Sunrise though. Baby steps to recovery....

Acabado Cinco Mayo- Día Cuatro

Triple zig zagged, trimmed and sergered ( ? is this a word, I usually say serged but is that a word? I think I'm tired, now that's a word!) edge, found yarn, tried to crochet edge, gave up for tonight.
Still, it is something right?

On another note you should see what my dye class is doing, they went right to town today and back again! They are doing fantastically! I'll show you some more tomorrow!
Lucie, made this amazing wandered fleece! I want to run right overthere and spin it, good thing ithis is an online class because I'd just lay that one to dry in a secret location if it were here.....

Tercer Día

DONE!!!!!
Lawanna and I challenged each other to hook this pear rug using pixelation. Only two lops allowed before cutting the strip. I confess if I had a block of one colour to insert I cheated like Mick Jagger on Bianca!
It was so tedious!
I my experience, like some other devices / inventions "made" for rug hooking...it wasn't worth the trouble.
Give me shapes any day! There is nothing that will substitute for being able to see what is there, the number or direction of loops falls a far second!
Doesn't it look good on my chair?
Happy hooking

Thea is already after him with the broom !

El Acabamiento Cinco en Mayo, Primera Parte

Viva la Primera Parte
So far my recovery is going very smoothly. I zig zagged , twice round my backing edge, I sewed my little wool piping now ready to apply and..... I ripped out offending loops in a current project. I achieved all I desired today and I feel good. My oar is wet and I'm ready to paddle hard tomorrow!

Here is the wonderful too good to be believed treasures I was sent by my Welcome Mat Fibre Friday swap partner Chris Hall! Can you believe it? She is a very generous woman. What I especially love are the colour ways she sent, an exciting twist for me! Wonderful!

And now a new feature, Tips from Man
Today Man suggests a typing method that will ensure you don't get carpel tunnel syndrome from too much hooking , spinning or typing. He calls it the Frankenstein Claw. Keep those wrists straight!!!
Blessings to you in all you do and create.

Recovery

Hi my name is Wanda and I'm an non finisher. See above.

I hook 'em but I don't book 'em.
I've got lots and it fills my friends with sadness, my enemies with glee.

So now I'm taking steps to stop starting and start finishing.
You can see I've already boxed myself in.... oh foul and loathsome logic!
Right here in this blog you will see the tiny daily steps of recovery during the grand expose called:
